How do I list an item?
First, read through our FAQ page to walkthrough our policies.  Then contact the Ecommerce Manager.  You will work closely with the Ecommerce Manager in creating a customizable website until we’ve reached a final product.  You will then be given a website URL to your individual page which you can advertise to your target population.  The Ecommerce Manager is there for you every step of the way: from website creation to financial transfer.

What ticket options do you provide?
Will Call: A list of ticket purchasers is provided to you to issue tickets or permit admittance at the door of the event.

e-Ticket: An e-Ticket is emailed to the purchaser as soon as payment is verified. Purchasers then bring a printout of the uniquely coded ticket.

How much does your system cost?
EGroups is a service created to serve its clients.  Our interests ensure your group’s ecommerce needs are met with premier service and scrupulous record keeping.  In order to remain solvent, eGroups charges nominal fees to its clients.  We strive to keep these fees as low as possible given the Payment Card Industry hurdles of online credit card security and website development.  We offer a dynamic fee structure, which allows student groups to meet their financial obligations while providing general services to the greater Stanford community.  The exact fee varies from product to product and situation to situation.  Please contact the ECommerce Manager for more information about how we can meet your particular needs.

What are some creative ways eGroups can aid my group?
Club Dues - by moving your club dues payment system online and on to eGroups, you provide your club members with more options for payment method (credit card or e-check).  You also win by making the whole payment process much more efficient for your club, as the money moves directly into your account without your having to collect and process cash or checks; we even keep payment records for you!

Services - eGroups is also a great solution for selling any services that your student group might offer, for instance, tutoring packages or test preparation.

Subscriptions -  eGroups can be an efficient and convenient way for your student group to sell subscriptions to any regular publications you release and allow you to track your subscriber base.

Can I have direct access to the guest list and financial information?
Yes, the Ecommerce Manager can give you direct access to all purchaser and financial information.  From any Internet connection you can check up-to-the-second pertinent data, review all orders, manage inventory, and compile sales.

Who can list?
Any Stanford student group - all Voluntary Student Organizations (VSO) approved by the OSA are eligible to sell their products online with eGroups.  Your groupís designated Financial Officer registered with Capital Group must be the person to setup your group as an eGroups vendor.  They can then designate  any group member to be their E-Commerce Liaison, who will serve the role of creating items and replenishing depleted inventory from time to time.

Any person affiliated with Stanford - are you an individual student or faculty/staff member and want to list your item?  eGroups now allows all Stanford community members to get access to E-Commerce solutions.  The process is slightly different from that of student groups but it is just as easy.  Now you can sell those clever custom t-shirts or Halloween-O-Grams securely online.

What can you list?
In short, anything that doesn't make our lives a nightmare or is prohibited by the University is pretty much game.  Oh, and it cannot be breaking any laws - local, county, state, federal, international or otherwise.  So that probably rules out burned copies of the latest 50Cent album as well as custom t-shirts with Nike symbols (without written consent from Nike).  Also, the University probably doesn't want us listing tickets to your Friday kegger out in FloMo field.  Just be reasonable and we will make sure you get listed.

Who can buy?
In most cases, anyone with a credit/debit card can purchase items on eGroups.  There are many events that are meant only for Stanford students (UG/Grad) and some that are even restricted to a certain group (Senior Class for Pub Hop).  These exceptions will be noted in the product description or title.  You acknowledge that you meet the requirements of purchase in these cases and are responsible for any consequences of your purchase. In some cases, WebAuth will be used to confirm identity.

How is money transferred?
Egroups is integrated with SSE Capital Group’s preexisting banking structure.  The instant a sale is made for your group the money is automatically available in your VSO’s 2800 account for general banking purposes.  Formally, the funds are held in an “eGroups Pending Inflow” account as you scroll over your 2800 account balance.  Once a month, the “Inflow” will be transferred to your 2800’s “Actual Balance.”

 What is eGroups?
eGroups is a student-run service provided by SSE Capital Group to all Stanford student groups.  This service was started to address the growing need for a centralized online listing and secure payment of the various items student groups on campus sell. eGroups aims to provide a comprehensive E-Commerce solution to each student group on campus.  We have built an industrial strength, enterprise-level service by taking the cumulative needs of all student organizations and creating one central website.   Instead of each group trying to do the same thing on their own at a huge cost, the eGroups solution does the same thing once and provides it to students at a very low cost.

Quick Item Listing- want to add a new item?  Simply input a price, image, description and optional fields into our form and your item will be listed within 24 hours. 

Website Creation - get pages dedicated just to your group and items for free, removing the need to develop your own integrated website.

Invoice Summary - view all purchases immediately after they happen and sort by time of purchase or customer name.

Invoice Detail - see unique transaction number, shipping address, transaction status and shopping cart detail for each transaction.

Financial Summary- view a summary of your gross sales, your shipping charges, your refunds, and your NET REVENUE.

Customer Service- we handle all questions and concerns from consumers and do so in an up-front manner.  None of your group members will have to respond to call or emails asking where their product is.

Use of our Bank Account- University policy prohibits groups from maintaining accounts outside the ASSU/SSE Capital Group system.

Direct ASSU Bank Deposit - all money from purchases of your item is automatically deposited in your Unfunded Checking Account (2800) with Capital Group.

Extra Traffic - watch your group receive complementary purchases from eGroups buyers coming to the site to purchase a different group’s item. We basically add in advertising based on our customer volume.
